As a lagered porter, this is more a Baltic Porter than an Imperial Porter. The pour is dark brown, with light hitting the edges. The head is light brown, foamy, and lasts a while leaving good lacing. The aroma is strong with roasted malt, coffee, and licorice dominating minor notes of yeast and bread. Mouthfeel is full. Flavor leans toward the bitter end of the spectrum here, lots of coffee and dark chocolate flavors.

Pours dark brown almost black.has a smooth taste of malt but does have just a slight bitter after taste. I drank two a got a pretty good buzz from t 8% abv. It was fun to say " bring me a hooker".

Pours a deep honey brown .. . medium head on the pour, ends up a respectable headring .. light lacing .. . sweet molasses, sugar, and light vanilla .. . light mouth .. light burn ... decent .. . . Somebody told me it was frightening how much topsoil we are losing each year, but I told that story around the campfire and nobody got scared..

Aroma is smoky and oily with undertones of quality coffee and molasses and a hint of hops. It pours a barely transparent cola brown with a thick, fine-bubbled tan head. Smoky flavor has tones of molasses and coffee and a hoppy, bitter undertone. Texture is thick, smooth and fizzy, leaving a fairly persistent smoky and slightly hoppy tingle.

Well, the first attempt at this beer was an old and bad bottle, but I managed to find another four pack of this afterwards. Dark pour with creamy brown head, wonderful fruity and licorice like aromas. Roasty and chocolatey flavor profile with a little bit of bitterness. Good job.

Bottle shared by sloth, the 03 vintage. Good head present with a semi-intentional vigorous pour. Full dark brown-black body. Aroma was hershey syrup chocolate with some maple notes. The flavor followed the aroma, molasses and caramel notes also mixing in there, light notes of oxidation over top, but nothing distracting or prohibitive of enjoyment. Body was malty, a touch sticky, but not syrup-like or overly cloying, although this was a tad too malty imbalanced and uninspiring to be great. Maybe it didn't improve with age? Bert, thanks for sharing!

Bottle courtesy of IMtheOptimator: Poured a hazy slightly dirty yellow color ale with a huge foamy head with good retention and good lacing. Aroma of estery yeast and spices is quite dominant as well as some tropical fruit- like sweetness. Taste is spicier then I would have expected which might be from the spice mix use in this beer or from the yeast strain use in this beer. Body is quite full and alcohol is not discernable. I thought this was reasonably well done for the style and would mind having another taste of it.

Pours a dark brown, basically black. Thick, foamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate and caramel. There is a very slight alcohol flavor, but nearly what I expected from an impy. Flavor though is excellent, with a great hop presense and chocolate undertones. (Thanks Dansting for getting this, and Cott for doing the trade)

Well first of all I have to thank Dan and Cott for getting me this brew. It was darker than the inside of a burried coffin. The aroma was of toasted malts and coffee. I probably should of held onto this for another year then tried it because i was really disappointed in the lack of flavor for an impy. I've just had porters with way more flavor than this impy which bums me out. Now that I have the state of Conneticuit outta the way i'll get another bottle and cellar it for a year.

Bottle. Poured a blackish-brown color with a nice light-brown head. Aroma was very coffee-like. Nice full mouthfeel. Flavor was a nice blend of chocolate malt and coffee. Not as much alcohol taste as I would have guessed. Solid beer. Thanks, Cottrell for the trade.
