#2328 Manzanita Gillespie Brown from Santee, CA, United States
Score: 3.6 | Aroma 7 | Appearance 7 | Mouthfeel 7 | Flavor 8 | Overall 7 |
22oz bottle -

Aroma - roasted malts, roasted almonds and molasses

Appearance - deep chocolate brown body, semi-transparent, 2-finger beige head, big bubbles, light retention/lacing

Flavor - roasted malts right up front, dark chocolate, baker's chocolate bitterness, with a medium sweetness to bind it all together

Overall - this is a BAINO if there ever is one, because it has much more character and complexity than a plain brown ale. Flavorful and it hides the alcohol pretty well. I'd buy again.

#2327 Manzanita Pale Ale from Santee, CA, United States
Score: 2.7 | Aroma 6 | Appearance 5 | Mouthfeel 6 | Flavor 5 | Overall 5 |
22oz bottle -

Aroma - light caramel and dried peaches

Appearance - golden amber body, clear with a 1-finger white head, light retention and light lacing

Mouthfeel - medium bodied, light carbonation

Flavor - well blanced, but the balance is on the light side of both malts and hops.

Overall - drinkable, a little bland. It would do very well to introduce someone who's never had a APA before to the style as it's far from aggressive.

#2326 Manzanita IPA from Santee, CA, United States
Score: 3.3 | Aroma 6 | Appearance 7 | Mouthfeel 6 | Flavor 7 | Overall 7 |
22oz bottle -

Aroma - spicy hop, orange juice, wet leaves with a good dose of plain sugar sweet smell

Appearance - hazy pale amber body, 2-finger off-white head, average retention/no lacing

Mouthfeel - medium carbonation, medium mouthfeel

Flavor - well balanced with a nice citrusy/piney hop profile. Sweet malts and in abundant here too, and the high 7% abv is well hidden. Pretty nice.

#2325 Manzanita Chaotic Double IPA from Santee, CA, United States
Score: 2.9 | Aroma 7 | Appearance 5 | Mouthfeel 7 | Flavor 5 | Overall 5 |
22oz bottle -

Aroma - very subdued for a IIPA, floral notes with some light cattyness and hand soap. Had to swirl several times to keep getting notes.

Appearance - burnt amber body, very light haze, 2-finger foamy head, average rentention, light lacing

Mouthfeel - medium carbonation, medium mouthfeel, a touch of alcohol burn

Flavor - caramel malt buries a majority of the hop flavors, but there is some vegetal bitterness in the quick finish. The malt hides the nearly 10% very well.

Overall - a malt bomb that fails to satisfy the hop craving. While far from overly-sweet, it's too unbalanced for my liking in a IIPA. Could have passed for a malty IPA.

#2324 The Bruery Batch #1000 Bryeian from Placentia, CA, United States
Score: 3.5 | Aroma 8 | Appearance 7 | Mouthfeel 7 | Flavor 7 | Overall 6 |
750ml bottle -

Aroma - anise, coffee beans, citrus and some spicy herbal notes

Appearance - dark mocha brown, nearly black body, 3-finger creamy tan head, long retention, above average lacing

Mouthfeel - medium carbonation, medium/full bodied, light burn

Flavor - pine needles, roasted malts, more anise, spicy rye quite noticeable, almost carrying a burnt hop pellet bitterness to it.

Overall - another good beer from The Bruery but gets tagged with a high price that really doesn't support jive with me. Gets a point knocked off for the price tag.

#2323 Omnipollo Fatamorgana from Stockholm, Sweden
Score: 3.6 | Aroma 8 | Appearance 8 | Mouthfeel 8 | Flavor 7 | Overall 5 |
22oz bottle -

Aroma - big citrusy aroma, full of grapefruit and orange/lemon combo. Malts are there, kept in check but caramel is present.

Appearance - golden yellow body, some haze to it, 4-finger head, above average retention and excellent lacing.

Mouthfeel - medium carbonation, full mouthfeel

Flavor - fruity palate, peaches and green grapes, medium bitterness, but nicely balanced by the sweetness. Finish is long and bitter.

Overall - it's good, but there are IPA's available that are 1/2 the cost, and deliver a focused punch of hops. Gets knocked down a few pegs for the costs and the contents, although tasty, it doesn't warrant a near $20 of beer.

#2320 Dust Bowl Hobo Pilsner from Turlock, CA, United States
Score: 3.2 | Aroma 6 | Appearance 6 | Mouthfeel 6 | Flavor 7 | Overall 7 |
12oz bottle -

Aroma - slightly spicy, some straw and grass notes

Appearance - clear light golden body, 2-finger white bubbly head, average retention/no lacing

Mouthfeel - light bodied, light/medium carbonation, lightly prickly

Flavor - light bready sweetness, spicy and quite grassy with just a little citrus in there.

Overall - refreshing and quite a surprise. The hop variety really works well with the spicyness and the pilsner malts...

#2319 Epic Brainless On Peaches Belgian Style Ale from Salt Lake City, UT, United States
Score: 3.2 | Aroma 7 | Appearance 7 | Mouthfeel 6 | Flavor 6 | Overall 6 |
22oz bottle -

Aroma - phenolic with a canned peach/syrup-y angle, light wood and caramel too

Appearance - hazy golden body, smallish 1-finger white foamy head, average retention/lacing Mouthfeel - medium bodied, light carbonation

Flavor - peach yogurt, bubblegum, lightly citrus and yeasty
