#1010 Yazoo Sue from Nashville, TN, United States
Score: 4.3 | Aroma 10 | Appearance 9 | Mouthfeel 8 | Flavor 8 | Overall 8 |
Thanks a lot beerbluesandbbq, the Vols were the better team! Perfectly black body with a medium orange tinted tan head. Subtle sweet smoke with some pancake notes. There is also some stone fruit, like prunes. The taste is sweet raisins and smoke with bits of tobacco. I got a bit of almonds in the finish. An overall smooth and well balanced beer that is on the sweeter end for a porter. The warming booze is only an afterthought with how easy this one is to drink. A solid beer.

Score: 3.4 | Aroma 8 | Appearance 6 | Mouthfeel 6 | Flavor 7 | Overall 7 |
Hazy reddish copper body with a long lasting khaki head. Old library books and pears are the dominant smells. Notes of ginger are present. Metallic notes are up front with oranges and oxidized old paper. I get a little bit of black tea along with hard strawberry candy in the finish. A nice ESB.

A lightly copper tinted brass body when poured out of the can. The dense head is is a pale khaki. A bright citrus grapefruit nose is complemented with almonds and sweet marmalade. There is also an obvious caramel note. Flavors of grapefruit rinds and toasted almonds make for a fairly sweet beer. A nice toasted sweet bread taste is flavored throughout each drink with dominant citrus. This is pretty tasty.

#1007 Busch Signature Copper Lager from St. Louis, MO, United States
Score: 2.7 | Aroma 8 | Appearance 7 | Mouthfeel 4 | Flavor 4 | Overall 4 |
Canned. Deep copper tinted brown body topped with a light khaki head. Fresh grains and caramel out of the gate with the first sniff. Sweet and fruity with notes of pears. This tastes fairly sweet like a corny breakfast cereal. Notes of caramel in the finish was fake. Cola type flavors also seep through this one. Nothing great, but a step up for a Busch beer. Not bad, but this smells better than it tastes.

#1006 4 Hands Brewing Cast Iron Oatmeal Brown from St. Louis, MO, United States
Score: 3.3 | Aroma 8 | Appearance 7 | Mouthfeel 6 | Flavor 6 | Overall 6 |
Bomber. Deep brown, nearly black body with traces of garnet at the edges when held to light. A very dense and long lasting light tanned leather hued head is a nice contrast. The nose is rich milk chocolate with notes of cereal grains. Touches of leather and cherries are also present. This tastes of milk chocolate and apple core up front. The back end is ashy with tobacco and some old library book flavors. This one smells better than it tastes. The carbonation is a little sharp on the tongue. This was an ok brown with some porter like qualities.

#1005 Urban Chestnut STLIPA from St. Louis, MO, United States
Score: 4.3 | Aroma 8 | Appearance 10 | Mouthfeel 9 | Flavor 8 | Overall 8 |
Bottle from a Schnucks. Deep orange amber colored brew with a dense light khaki head. Massive citrus nose with some notes of toast and peanuts. There is also a perfumed note with bits of almonds. The dominant flavor is up front citrus rinds. This has a nutty finish with hints of orange sweetness. The body is a little chewy, but any alcohol is really only detected in the aftertaste. Well balanced, yet in your face with the big boy hops. This one is a winner.

Bottle. A slightly hazy light bronze with a thin off white head body. A crazy pepper nose with some apparent heat. This pepper smell pretty much overwhelms everything else, but at least it smells fresh. Oh wow, this one is a big spicy bad boy. Just like the aroma, the heat just blows away everything else away in this otherwise thin brew. Behind, the heat, there is lightly sweet brew with notes of peanuts. Only to drink if you want the heat. I have had better pepper beers with more balance, this gimmick was obviously created just to overwhelm with spice.

Can. Dark brown body yellowish khaki head. The nose is toffee with fruit. Taste of sweet dough and almonds. There is also a hint of the rye and some bits of roasted coffee. Notes of rye throughout. A little thick and sticky in the mouth. Decent.

#1002 Kissmeyer No. 7 Honey Porter from Copenhagen, Denmark
Score: 4.4 | Aroma 10 | Appearance 8 | Mouthfeel 8 | Flavor 9 | Overall 9 |
Bomber. Nearly perfect black, but I saw a tiny bit of orange tinted light at the edges. There is a thin, but persistent khaki head that left a lot stuck to the sides of the glass. I am inhaling a tremendous mix of toffee, plums and cocoa. I am getting flavors of plums in the start and especially in the finish with each drink. Notes of high quality tobacco are present. There is a slight hint of booze, but it is a smooth drinker with light carbonation and a sticky mouthfeel. This is excellent.

#1001 Revolution Eugene Porter from Chicago, IL, United States
Score: 3.7 | Aroma 10 | Appearance 7 | Mouthfeel 6 | Flavor 7 | Overall 7 |
Can, thanks a lot CanIHave4Beers. Pours pitch black with a slightly orange tinged tan head. Milk chocolate comes through in the nose like Whoppers candy. There is also some decent coffee roast. Caramel hides behind the other smells. Coffee is up front with the first taste. Then I started to get a little bit of malt and dark chocolate flavors. Tobacco and hints of peanuts are in the slightly prune like finish. A nice roasted porter, but that sweet type prune finish is a little off putting. Still, this is a fairly solid porter.
