#235 Lake Superior Old Man Winter Warmer from Duluth, MN, United States
Score: 4.7 | Aroma 8 | Appearance 9 | Mouthfeel 10 | Flavor 10 | Overall 10 |
When I first tasted this beer it hit the tip of my tongue and I said, "Yes, that's a definite barleywine, strong malt character, but as it splashed over the rest of my tongue there is only one word to describe the rest of the flavor: BACON! BACON! BACON! I have never had a beer that actually tastes like bacon. Bacon smothered in sweet malt. Smokey crisp bacon. The nose has bacon. This is the only beer I recommend to have with pancakes. Yum!

#234 Titletown Ison's Fade to Black IPA from Green Bay, WI, United States
Score: 4.8 | Aroma 10 | Appearance 9 | Mouthfeel 9 | Flavor 10 | Overall 10 |
If there is one beer that you have to get from Titletown, this is the one. Absolutely have to! Period. While its description mentions its chocolatey taste I found it something much more complex. This capture an irony cold ozoney flavor that captures the cold icey darkness of space. If it were up to me everyone watching the movie Gravity would have a large mug of this one to help them through the movie. As the bartender who served it said to me, "Many black ipas taste like stouts with hops thrown in." This is something altogether different and if given a blind taste test I wouldn't have thought it an ipa either. I would have just said it reminds me of looking out into the stars on a night that's 19 below. And tonight it is.

#233 Badger State Amber IPA from Green Bay, WI, United States
Score: 5 | Aroma 10 | Appearance 10 | Mouthfeel 10 | Flavor 10 | Overall 10 |
A wonderful new find in Green Bay. Had this before a packer game, in a red cup. Creamy tan head, nice chewy mouthfeel, sort of like if you combined a citrusy ipa, an amber, a cream ale and a touch of a quad or abby ale. Darker than most ipas. Wish I had had a real glass but next time i'll bring one. Definitely the most complex ipa I've had in awhile.

#232 Ale Asylum Ballistic IPA from Madison, WI, United States
Score: 4.8 | Aroma 9 | Appearance 9 | Mouthfeel 10 | Flavor 10 | Overall 10 |
This is a great change in ipas as it definitely, definitely, definitely has that marijuana flavor, which is not surprising coming out of Madison. One of my new favorite ipas. Mellower than caramel. No harsh ipa flavor. Doesn't make your tongue go numb.

#231 Shipyard Fuggles IPA from Portland, ME, United States
Score: 3.1 | Aroma 6 | Appearance 6 | Mouthfeel 6 | Flavor 7 | Overall 6 |
Perhaps this bottle was old or perhaps this just didn't impress me. I didn't feel this was a good/great ipa, just average. the fuggles is mellow, not strong at all. Meh.

#230 Bells Smitten Golden Rye Ale from Galesburg, MI, United States
Score: 3.2 | Aroma 6 | Appearance 7 | Mouthfeel 5 | Flavor 7 | Overall 7 |
I very dry sharp rye. Nice golden color. the smell of malt is in the glass but the sharp dry rye overpowers it. If you like these this is for you but the main thing I liked about this one was the color.

#229 Third Shift Amber Lager from Golden, CO, United States
Score: 3.5 | Aroma 7 | Appearance 7 | Mouthfeel 7 | Flavor 7 | Overall 7 |
I can't believe its coors! OMG they fooled me. That's it, no more mix and match. I looked all over that bottle to make sure this wasnt a bmc off brand and it must have fooled me. Still it was a better than average amber, with a good sweet malt. Tell you what, you know that guy who shows up to the homebrew club to get free beer, put a fake label on this and keep pouring this and save the real stuff for the non-moochers who really appreciate good beer.

#228 Central Waters Kosmyk Charlie's Y2K Catastrophe Ale from Amherst, WI, United States
Score: 4.1 | Aroma 8 | Appearance 8 | Mouthfeel 8 | Flavor 9 | Overall 8 |
A very good barley wine, good enough to just let it stick to your tongue and not bother swallowing it, heck put it back in the bottle and let it set another year. Flavors of treacle and prunes.

#227 Green Flash Hop Head Red from San Diego, CA, United States
Score: 3.8 | Aroma 10 | Appearance 7 | Mouthfeel 7 | Flavor 7 | Overall 7 |
A red ipa, though listed as an amber, whatever. Made with amarillo hops, which isnt my favorite hops, still i like this a lot. The only thing I dont like is the flavor doesnt last as long as I would wish. Still an impressive ruby red color.

#226 Green Flash Le Freak Belgian Style IPA from San Diego, CA, United States
Score: 4.2 | Aroma 8 | Appearance 7 | Mouthfeel 9 | Flavor 9 | Overall 9 |
yes this is half ipa and half belgian style with enough of each that they dont fight with one another. The only thing that wins out is the amount of alcohol, which knocks your socks off.
