Finally, a hip place in DePere with a good selection of on tap craft brews. To give you an idea they had Hopslam one week, Central Waters Peruvian Sunrise another, and Sierra Nevada Fresh Hop the same night. Gourmet food side by side with comfort food (think a bucket of mussels and on the same menu mac and cheese or poutine). A bit pricier but I bet, just mark my word, that this will be a new packer hangout come June/July. Excellent, excellent service.

Finally a wisconsin bar that serves wisconsin craft beer. Posters in the windows announce which one and at least 12 taps are for Wisconsin beers including Titletown, Hinterland, O'so, Wisco Disco, Central Waters, 3 Sheeps and the really hard to find Lake Geneva. The owner makes burgers with fresh meat patties and wisconsin cheese (Renards from Door County to be exact). The had one central waters that only 15 casks went out of the brewery from. They also have more ipas than any place I have seen in Green Bay (other than a liquor store)

A chalkboard lists the detailled beers you can have. Mikkellen on the list. Several taps with good brews. I came in searching for Black Husky Smoke Monster. Lots of german beer paraphenalia. German food on the menu and nightly food specials. The owner appears to be a bears fan which only seems odd because its in Green Bay. Won't hold that against him, he knows all his regulars.

Finally I have a place I can go to up in the Bayfield Peninsula that has a good selection of beer. 10 on draft, 2 Irish, 1 English, and a good selection of others. I warm hearth, irish signs and statements, intimate and a nearly complete absence of a blaring tv. In fact though the tv is turned on during important games, while I was there they had it on earth tv which just showed the earth and you can actually watch the shadow of the moon pass over it. I had the english ale and my wife had the red hoptober. Both great and the english ale actually was nitrogen fixed.

I was quite surprised at the selection of beers including New Glarus Moon Man and Dancing Man, Racer 5, Hinterland Saison, and Oso beers. More than 3 ipas on the menu.

Service was slower and I would expect even slower on tourist laden weekends.

Great salad with grilled tuna on it.

They have about 20 draft beers in the main bar and at first it appears ready to serve you. Now granted this place is new but on a Saturday night with 4 people sitting at a table near the pool table, it took us about half an hour to get a beer and there were plenty of waiters walking by smiling at us as we smiled at them.

My beer, Titletown Hopasaurus Rex, was outstanding. A friend tried to order Lips of Faith and was told they were out and that only three places in Green Bay had this and they were all sold out in a day.

The historic photos would be great if you weren't plastered to them by the music from the bar. It looked like a young people's place, perhaps even younger than I thought as the logo was HP on a medieval shield. What broom riding wizard does this remind you of?

One friend told me that they asked for a manager because they were not getting served and that she was told that they should have checked in with the hostess when they came in. She also remembered a similar place having tables where they were ignored and when they asked the manager why they said that the they didn't serve food at those tables (not that the customers could tell that...) Lesson here, if you want food and service check in with the host stand, even if it looks free form.

While being a brewery place in the middle of nowhere, it still had many flaws. Location is really crazy to get to. Its on a frontage road that is misleading. The bartenders were very smiley but kept disappearing. Then the biggest thing of all, the beer. I had four different samples and each of them had a strong sharp backflavor that left me thinking that the brewer needed to flush the pipes. Also I really didn't want to finish the samples. Wanted to try the pizza but again no sign of service.

I wrote the description above. If higher powers can't use it up there, please move it down here.

It has recently gone through some changes so here is my review of it. A beer bar that has decided to go upscale and is now Green Bay's best selection of craft beers. It has 12 taps, none with bmc, one devoted to sours. When you ask for the menu they give you a full page of beers and you notice that there's a section called "Rather Not" - this is the bmcs. Other than that about 50 beers including ipas, stouts, sours, belgians and others. They also hand you the on tap list with long descriptions of each. If you ask for it they will hand you the cellaring menu of about 12 heavy hard to get beers from $14-$26 a bottle. The cellaring list includes brands such as Mikkeller Beer Geek Brunch Weasel, New Belgium Lips of Faith Cocoa Molé, Bierre de Mars, Val du Grand Cru,and Alaskan Smoked Porter. If you ask for a food menu they point to 5 items on the wall from nachos, to cheezy garlic bread to three kinds of local brand, Fire Hydrant Pizza. Pizzas are half off m-f during happy hour. The staff is knowledgeable of all the craft beers and is not snooty about them. In fact, the bartender I spoke to said she had recently visited Central Waters Brewery and it had turned her whole outlook on beer around. They serve the beers in the appropriate glasses and have a professional glasses rinser that the use before serving each glass. One of the owners works at House of Homebrew, brewing supply. Happy hour all beers are half off, including cellared beer. There's also pool, live music, and people still buying bmc.

The food is out of this world. The place is festive. I like some of the old brewery stuff in the basement. Finding the bathroom in the basement after having a few is an adventure (given the wrong mood, it might seem like the basement in Silence of the Lambs). In two of the times I went the bartender instantly produced samples of beers i was thinking about, which helped me decide on what I wanted. Texas speedbump, that's my choice.
