Pours a deep, barely transparent chocolate brown with a thick and persistent buff head. Smoky, peaty aroma has a definite overtone of bourbon-soaked wood and a hint of caramel. Flavor has a firm bourbon bite that dominates the palate but allows coffee, caramel, earthy, and subtle nutty and chocolate notes to strut their hour on the stage. Texture is firm and smooth, though fizz is lacking. A winner indeed.
Actually, if you check history, a lot of Scotch-Irish did settle in the Southeastern U.S. So, why cant Scotch ale and bourbon be friends?
