"I'm typically skeptical of what I all gimicks with my beer, "oak-aging" among them. My thought process has been changed, as Stone must have come close to perfecting it. Heavy oak, but not unpleasantly so, and the full bodied fantastic flavor that I've come to expect from Stone. "

"this beer was great. it mellowed all that i didn't particularly care for in the regular AB. Very smooth, as the oak aging treated this beer VERY well."

"Okay, this is my second Stone product I have ever had. The aroma is sweet and malty-like with hints of some raisin and dark figs. The appearance is very nice as well and is a dark, creamy red-amber color to violet even, with a thin, tan head that sits on top and sticks to the glass. The mouthfeel is great and very complex with decent balance and full in body. The flavor is very good and strong and of raisins or dried, dark fruit with hints of fig and very creamy and smooth with even a little smoke flavor with a finish that is wet and refreshing and is sticky on the pallet. Overall, another great product from Stone Brewing and very smooth and refreshing and full of flavor with good malt characteristics as well. I liked this one a lot."

"This ale is a beautiful deep reddish mahogany, and pours with a fairly thick tan head. Aroma is rich and hoppy with a definite smoky oak overtone. Flavor is almost indescribably delicious - mainly hoppy with malty, nutty, smoky and even sweet hints, and definitely some contribution from the oak chips. Texture is supremely smooth, and leaves a very pleasingly hoppy and smoky aftertaste. A winner!"

"Bottle pours dark red with an off-white head that caps and laces beautifully. The aroma is sweet and hoppy with notes of the oak chips. Hops explode at first, piney and citrusy yet with a very smooth mouthfeel. The alcohol is not noticable. The hops continue and are finished with the smokey oak chips, which lend to the extreme drinkability of this beer. Absolutely phenomenal. One of the best, if not the best, American Strong Ales. "
