"Two year old 2006 version. Stewarts barrel aged beers tend to produce immensely strong bourbon flavors that tend to overwhelm most styles. This one worked better for me than most...still bourbon all over this one - aroma and flavor, yet the strength of the barleywine underneath made it tolerable. Little to no hop presence left in this one...some could have helped. Really sweet and difficult to drink, but still tasty."

"Re-rate 05 vintage at KSBF07, no change, just wonderful. Original rating: Wow, by far the best production I’ve ever sampled at Stewart’s. Good golly, the 2005 Barleywine aged in a bourbon barrel, my oh, my…. This was dead on fantastic, aroma and flavors of oak, maple, light caramel. As it warmed, the liquor/bourbon flavors came out even more, but not overly so. This was a great beer, nice sticky, but smooth mouthfeel, very sippable, something I wish I could have had a growler of."

"[03, 05 vintages sampled] Poured a hazy amber brown color with no head or lacing on the glass. Aroma of bourbon, oak, vanilla, caramel malts, dried fruits, light citrus and some faint pine. Taste of sweet caramel malts, vanilla oak, nougat, medium bitterness, and a bourbon alcohol finish."
