In honour of our tenth anniversary, McAuslan Vintage Ale has been brewed to continue the centuries-old tradition of strong ales and barley wines. Vintage Ale is rich and malty, with a surprisingly well balanced and clean hop finish provided by classic Goldings hops. The ale is unfiltered and derives its orange hue from wheat malt blended with pale and Munich malts. The malts also provide a hints of caramelized fruit reminiscent of a Christmas pudding.
McAuslan Brewing will celebrate each new year by brewing Vintage Ale on our anniversary. As a vintage product, we estimate this ale will remain in good condition for a number of years.

"I tried the 2007 version of this vintage ale, at 8% ABV. This is another reddish brown beer with an off-white head. The aroma consists of hops, malt, and fruit and blows you away at first. The flavour has a nice hoppy finish that makes it all worth while. An outstanding Canadian brew."

"It always nice to meet another beer geek and meeting one from another country is rare, especially when you’re meeting up with them in Savannah, GA. Martin and family were driving up from Florida on their way back to Montreal and we met up at Moon River. Martin was cool enough to bring a few beers for me to try and this was one of them. Pours a slightly hazed reddish brown with an ample, but not booming head. Strong hoppiness, slight bit of straw in the malt, but more pale malt. There’s a slight harshness that age would likely mellow eventually."

"(2000 vintage, 10.2 %, thanks Bov!). Hazy brown colour, small beige head. Aroma is plummy, alcoholic, toffeeish, wineous and spicy. Barnyard, berries and plum in flavour along with leathey and alcoholy hints. A bit glueish and redwineish. Pleasant thing overall. "

"Celebrating review 700th, and for this, my first barleywine. And a very special one as well. A 2001 edition that I paid $8 Canadian for a normal bottle. Pours a very dark red colour, which highlights can be seen through, and the same for the carbonation. Very well-balanced tiny bubble all-over with a slower speed than normal. Good creamy tanned head that has great retention. Lacing forms and sticks to the glass in different shapes and forms. The nose is a mix of nuts and dark fruit syrups. Very smooth with no burn at all (for 9.6% ABV). A very nice voyage of flavours. Dark fruit with some bitterness, roasted nuts, toffee and than lands into rich coffee. Hazelnut shows in the aftertaste. Brilliant, and very enjoyable to sip. Worth every penny !"
