"Brought back from my friend when she went to New Zealand: Pours an orange coloured body with a medium sized white head. Noticeable earthy characteristics, aroma is floral with soft berry fruit. Taste is clean, slightly grainy midpalate. "

"Golden colour, small white head. Mould, earth, fruits and hops in aroma. Flavour is grass, flowery hops and salts. The aftertaste is caramellish and grassy. Refreshing beer."

"Nice copper orangy colour. poured a tiny bit of white head which did not last with a tiny bit of lacing - almost zero bubbles. light dry/ fruity / carmel malt aroma. Empty creamy mouthfeel - leave your mouth very dry - but that probally from ruining my tongue on 150 grams of Rave salt and vinegar chips (Yesterday!!! - still suffering a bit - probally not the best day for a tasting of yummy brew). Great sweet malt flavour with some floral undertones considering the hefty 4% mind-blowing alcohol content. Very good beer....I'm listening to Ratt - Out of the Cellar right now - I'm insane...wore this tape to nothing...might have to pick it up on CD at London Drugs clearance crate for $3.99- wonder if i can rock out as well as i did when i was 8? I'm an old decrepit man now."

"Bottle. Dark amber colour with a fairly large, but rapidly dissipating white head. Malty aroma with caramel and some biscuit. Malty flavour with a bit of a pasteurised/stale finish. Light bodied, no bitterness. Not undrinkable, but I'm not sure how it qualifies to be "full strength"."

"Hey, did you know that Kiwi swimmer Mark Treppers won the 400m Medely at the 1974 Commonwealth Games? No? Me neither. But thanks to the underside of the bottlecap of this unussual little brew, now I know...!
Picked up a single of this from Trader Joes for something like $0.80. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm glad I checked this out. A satisfying and different beer from New Zealand.
Pours a little too light for the style, and the aroma is a little off-putting -- notes of grass, and the national hop of Australia and New Zealand, the infamous Pride Of Ringwood hop (an acquired taste).
But this really goes down nicely, with a nice even malt body to bolster the more than adequate bitterness. We're not talking tradional Pale Ale bitterness here, but a lot more than I would have given this Kiwi beer credit for. And a nice mouthfeel and finish makes this rather drinkable and enjoyable.
This might be something to check out if you're a little burned out on the more standard British and American varieties of Pale Ale. I'm sure I'll pick this up again in the future.
