It is beer #2 in our "Blackwater Series" of original Imperial Stouts. The first in the Series was "Is", a dark and bitter Russian Imperial Stout. "Oat" is the follow up; an Oatmeal Stout with major alcohol volume and tons of body to back it up. The cloying character of the oats in this brew lends itself to a chewy and almost oily mouthfeel. ABV. is off the charts at about 12.5%. Note, that this is an all malt beer fermented with our house ale strain of yeast. Judicious hopping with Columbus and Chinook produce a hoppy aroma that mingles nicely with the chocolate and de-bittered black barley from Belgium.

"Pours a dark brown colour with a reddish tint near the bottom. HEad is very small, very little carbonation in this beer. Taste is pleasent, rich with dark roasted malts and coffee beans. Aroma is strong of dark fruits, black licorice adn toffee."

"Pours with a black body topped by a thin, tan head with some lacing. It’s sweet and malty with a creamy note, some bitter hops and a touch of vanilla. Full bodied, smooth and creamy."

"Pours a very dark brown, almost opaque black. The aroma has a nice roastiness and the flavor is a little on the sweet side, but balanced nicely by bitter malts and some mild hoppiness."

"Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Opaque black with a small pale brown head. Big well rounded aroma of figs, licorice, milky chocolate and sweet coffee. Full-bodied, oily and chewy with notes of milky chocolate, figs, raisin, tobacco and licorice. Silky smooth mouth feel. Long finish of chocolate, sweet coffee, prunes and resin. "

"A nice beer from Southern Tier (when do they not make good beer). A nice roasty aroma, with coffee, sweet malts and chocolate taking center stage. Flavor was dark chocolate, dark fruits, coffee and molasses. A smooth, velvety mouthfeel due in part to the oatmeal I'm sure. Not the best out there, but really tasty."
