Three thousand feet above sea level in the misty mountains of Jamaica, some of the worlds finest Arabica beans are hand picked on their way to becoming Blue Mountain Coffee. Halfway around the world, plump spring barley grows to maturity in the loamy soil of North America while aromatic hops are cutivated to exacting standards. Here in our kettles, these three special ingredients are blended to create a heady mixture of sweet sugar, dark roast, and complex flavor. Please enjoy this brew in moderation.

"Pours a blackish color with a tan head with some nice lacing. Smells of coffee, a hint of chocolate and roasted malt. Coffee is the dominant taste with the hint of chocolate and the roasted malt carries the taste to the end. Nice, mildly bitter finish. Mouthfeel is full and silky. As I have said before, Southern Tier is a craft brewer who pays attention to details. They have yet to disappoint me. Good stuff."

"It's an Imperial Stout so I expect it to be black.............it was, I wasn't disappointed. I expect the head to be thin, tight, and tan coloured..........check. I expect the aroma to be similar to my morning coffee..........check. The flavour was roasted malt, coffee, and a little hoppy bitterness to round it out. Scrumptious."

"This is the beer that made me fall in love with Southern Tier. I must admit I love dark beers before starting this review. This stout poured a perfect picture of darkeness with an inviting aroma of chocolate and coffee. The taste followed suit. This was my first beer from Southern Tier and has become a staple whenever I see it on the shelves. A must try for stout lovers!! "

"Poured a deep brown almost like motor oil with next to no head. Aroma was of dark chocolate , coffee and hints of dark fruit. Mouth feel is thick and sticky. Taste was big dark chocolate , roasty malt and coffee with hints of maybe plums. ABV hidden pretty well. This beer is extremely rich and the 22 oz bomber is a bit much for 1 person."

"NorCal tasting July 07 - Towards the end of the night, it's time for the big beers to come out. And during this time, there's always the obligatory coffee stout. Now this stout is a nice beer, but it took me awhile to get into it. The enormity of the coffee aroma was just overpowering. It's strength surprised me and the aroma verged on the edge of day old coffee and fresh coffee. I would have marked it up higher had it leaned more to the fresher side of things. Appearance was just as about as good as it gets. A nice thick, smooth consistancy. Flavor is mostly coffee, some molasses and dark chocolate but strangely I picked up some off bell pepper/vegetative notes along with a metal character. Nice beer, but personally I'm getting tired of the whole coffee stout thing. "
