IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPA’s namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

"Bottle:
Pours a clear dark amber with a standard rocky 2 finger cap which it does not retain too long...fair lacing.
Aroma is standard Pac.NW Cascade hops grapefruit and floral, with a sweet malt undertone and some leafy herbaceous earthy accents.- excellent nose on this ale.
Flavor profile is fairly decent for an APA of this genre but I find it a bit unbalanced towards bittering rather than the juicy citrus cascade hopping in other Micro APAs...Good caramel malt spin ride just below the bitter-citrus resinous hopping then it tails off in to a light drying in the finish with a lingering metallic after taste.
A big APA but personally I prefer Anchor Liberty and other select +65 IBU APAs over this as they seem to balance the bittering better with the malt profile."

"Comes in a 6-pack at the LCBO. Pours a slightly hazy golden-orange colour with a nice foamy off-white head. This one stays a while and good lacing is created all around the glass. Oh yeah... the smell of a real IPA... lots of hop. Probably Cascade hop... as it has that pine smell (mildly). The mouthfeel is between watery and syrupy. Not as much bite in the taste, as I thought, coming from the aromas. Still, a real IPA, and a good one to make other people try, when they think Keith's IPA is a real one."

"Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: The color was orangey amber with a foamy off white head. Its head slowly fades to just a thin covering of bubbles.
Smell: Hops attack the nose with spruce pine, resin and light citrusy hop aromas.
Taste/Mouth feel: The flavor hits your tongue with bold piney and citrusy hop flavors. Malt flavor lies underneath and offers some balance with a mildly sweet and bready tone. The palate has a slightly oily smooth texture with a medium body and soft carbonation.
Notes: This is one solid IPA that has good flavor and drinkability.

"The bottle I had says 6.0%, not 6.5%. The beer pours a hazy orangy-gold colour with a thin white creamy head. The aroma is malt mixed with citrusy hops. The flavour is very hoppy with a nice bitter finish. All the right ingredients, but still a bit underwhelming."

"Bottle: Poured a deep orangey color ale with a medium foamy head with average retention and no lacing. Aroma of mild bitter hops are dominating. Taste is a mix between some bitter hops and a nice caramel malt base. Full body with OK carbonation. Well done but nothing that really stands out for the myriad of IPA offering in the US."
