Ruby red in colour, this all malt ale is brewed from a combination of roasted barley malts and English aroma hops.
Tasting Notes: Brewed from specialty barley malts, English aroma hops and deep well water. Smooth in taste. The hopping is generous but not bitter and has a unique flavour that has become a trademark for Sleeman.

"AKA Sleeman La Rousse.
Pours a dark, warm, almost opaque mahogany with a decent head. Aroma is malty with hints of spice and yeast. Flavor is well-rounded, mainly malty with some hops and touches of spice and smoke. Mouthfeel is nice and edgy so it goes down rough."

"This was a unique beer being a Sleeman's product. The beer pours a beautiful dark copper colour with an off-white head that lasts. The beer rolls on the tongue as a medium bodied brew with mild carbonation. The aroma was mild with no overpowering malt of hop feel. The taste was similarly bland."

"This dark lager pours a medium amber color from a 33cl bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is caramel and sweet, touch of toast. Light to medium bodied lager. Malts are caramel and sweet. Hops, ) There are hops here?) are slightly earthy. Tastes like a bunch of other macros. Not really objectionable, because there is no flavor here. Bland, bland, watery and boring. Perhaps a little more flavor than a diet coke, but not much. Mouthfeel is thin. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. "

"Nice dark amber colour with better than average tan cap that has pretty good retention and leaves decent lacing on occasion. Ample fine effervesance. Smell isn't really a downer because I didn't expect anything from this brew. Lightly roasted malts, some sweetness, but there is a stink that I would not define as skunky - it's a step up from skunky. Either way, it takes a while for any solid aroma to arise and by then your beer is gone. Needs more aroma early on to make this more enjoyable. Beer seems watered down, but the flavour is still decent. Nice malts, typical hops, icky cold coffee and some weak candy flavour - a candy that could only be given to you by your grandmother. Mouthfeel is alright but not great - one has to accept this bitter aftertaste that arises. A bit too fizzy and light bodied. Very Sleemans - if your not a fan, this beer won't change your mind."

"Sleeman's is a different brewery. They make a variety of beers, but they try appeal to the masses. This beer is no different. I respect them for trying to make something other than swill, but they have to make a good beer if they want me to buy it again. If I'm drinking swill it'll be lucky. I'm not paying an extra $5 to get a mildly better beer. Pfff."
