A sagacious formula of inherent elements within a beautiful cold fermented darkness. Beer Type: High Gravity American Dark Lager aged on anise seed, Madagascar Bourbon vanilla beans and fresh chocolate mint leaves.

"Tasted at Noogfest 4.0 (2008). This spiced ale pours a dark black color from a 750ml bottle. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is licorice, malt and grain, but mostly licorice. A medium bodied ale. The malts are caramel and fruity, lots of black licorice. The hops are kind of earthy. There is a birch like quality I am getting as well as the black licorice. This will probably be a love it or hate it beer. Yet another interesting beer from Shorts. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. "
