"Couldn't agree more with eaglefan538's assessment; when a beer requires radioactive green sludge (that Waldmeister syrup) to improve the flavor, one really does have to ask, "why bother?" I had this stuff in a bar in Berlin, just so I could experience it, and it lived up entirely to the intensely negative billing it had gotten from friends down in Bavaria. Germany produces many, many, really fine beers, but this one (and the whole style) ain't one of them, in my opinion. The beer is weak in flavor until bolstered with the syrup (also cherry syrup is popular), but the Waldmeister just increased the degree of difficulty, leaving a rather Syrup of Ipecac finish, in actually finishing what would normally be a beer that goes down quickly and oh so forgettably. Fortunately there were enough imports from the rest of Germany circulating through Berlin that this was a one-and-done experience for me. I'd recommend it as a one-shot for anyone else as well, but only for educational purposes for the would-be well-rounded German beer connoisseur and not for any inherent pleasure."

"Ok, I've had a berliner weiss before, and if this is what it takes to get that style palatable (lots of lime / citrus additives), then why bother? This one poured green, fluorescent green and wasn't worth much tasted like hawaiian punch citrus cooler mixed in with a weak beer. C'mon, now. This is wine cooloer material, although it did have flavor (of some sort)."
