From the heart of Bavaria comes Schneider Hefe-Weizen, Germany's original wheat beer. Produced in the method champagnoise style, Schneider Hefe-Weizen has a fresh yeast sediment in the bottom of the bottle. Bottle conditioning and the use of over 60% wheat malt in the brewing process creates a fruity-spicy flavor.

"Presentation: It was poured from a brown 500ml or 1 pint .9oz bottle into a weizen glass.
Appearance: It had a dark bronze color like a Dunkelweizen. The body was hazy and had some visible carbonation. It produced a thick billowy head that was cloudy white in color and had good retention and slick lacing.
Smell: The aroma had a fruity yeasty character that stood out over hints of wheat malt.
Taste/Mouth feel: It is very smooth and creamy on the palate with soft carbonation and a good solid medium body. The flavor has a big solid malty presence with creamy wheat, sweet bready and lightly toasted caramel notes. Flavor notes of fruity yeast, banana and clove are present and well balanced. Its hop flavor is very mild and it finishes fairly crisp and balanced.
Notes: Overall I enjoyed its wonderful deep malty flavor and drinkability.

"I didnt see what all the fuss was about, sure it smelled o.k with hints of banana and slight bubble gum. A nice amber body, with a super thick cap that left good lace. But the mouthfeel was too watery, and after the initial taste of slight banana and clove there wasnt anything except a little yeasty after taste, that was really bland. Overall it was o.k. but i dont intend on getting another one."

"500ml bottle
5.4% ABV
I tried this beer on August 24, 2008 after purchasing at one of my local LCBO outlets. The beer poured a dark cloudy brown with a thin tan coloured head. The aroma was malted wheat, some sweetness, some cloves. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, and mildly carbonated. The flavour was less sweet than a lot of Hefeweizens, and was very drinkable."

"Ah, the champaign of Hefe's - this beer rules!
Poured with ease into my Schneider Weisse glass and I still got an enormous light tan cap that took a long time to settle down. In fact, I turned my glass on an obvious angle and the head did not bend with the liquid. Nice colour before the sediment dump, now it's just metamusil. The aroma is perfect: wheat, clove, sweetness mixed in with not-sweet bananas and I always seem to find a slight chocolate dusting in Hefe's, weak orange and possibly vanilla - all in perfect balance. The flavour is fresh and crisp with lots of excellent wheat, a good balance of clove and banana, orange and a decent yeast punch. Medium bodied, very smooth on the mouth, slight tangy taste, solid yeast/wheat/clove finish."

"This German entry poured with a golden brown body. The head is impressive, frothy and white. Decent retention settling into a filmy lacing. The nose is tart, fruity and spicy. There’s very little sweet malt here. The Wheat is there, holding a decent complxty of fruits and hint of hops. Good crisp drink."
