This light-colored, refreshing ale is THE beer of Cologne. Well balanced and mild mannered, this beer is great for summer. Available May through August.

"Light colored pour with a slight head. Very crisp and a bit fruity, with subtle hops. Overall, it has a nice full flavor but is not heavy with malt. No wonder they call it summer ale. It is indeed a perfect beer to ice down and enjoy outdoors. "

"My first experience with a Kolsch. Very refreshing. Slightly hazy golden pour with medium head. Good lacing. Balanced in flavor, noticable malts with a hint of hops. Fruits mildly detected. Perhaps a touch of lemon. Good mouthfeel. Finish is clean and crisp. I enjoyed this a bunch and would recommend, but can not compare to other bottlers."

"Sampled on draft, Patton Alley Pub, MO. This kolsch pours slightly hazy gold with an ample white head and nice lacing. A well-balanced flavor that highlights its malts with just a hint of peppery hops and subtle fruits (apples and plums). Medium-light body and moderate carbonation. Finishes clean. Very drinkable and a good example of the style!"

"I had only read about the Kolsch style of beer when I encountered this in St. Louis. Since it doesn't emphasize hops, I was a little leery. At the time I was all about the hops. But this is a surprisingly pleasant beer. Crisp mouthfeel, citrusy and sweet, but enough hops to keep me interested. Who says Budweiser's the only beer in St. Louis?"

"A well made Kolsch, we have here. Good, but small, head, crisp taste and mouthfeel, as expected. Mildly fruity and clean, an excellent summer beer that certainly surpasses their hefeweizen.
RERATE: One helluva Kolsch, the only better incarnations have been from great homebrewers. Lightly fruity, malty and subtly hoppy, this is wonderful when fresh.RERATE: Since switching over to Gaffel yeast this beer had hit another level."
