Throughout history, beer of somewhat higher alcohol and richness has been enjoyed for the winter holidays, when old friends get together to enjoy the season. Wassail, a festival to celebrate winter and the beer that goes with it, predates the Christian era. Winter Welcome is vintage-dated with a special label each year. Serve in a traditional tankard for the holidays.
Honey-amber-colored, creamy head of small bubbles, floral aroma and delicious malt flavor with great finesse.

"always a very nice seasonal brew, until i had a few skunky ones in clear bottles. sam smith's has realized this error, and has now started bottling in brown only, and the gains are measurable. this is now constantly a good beer again. it pours a rich golden-mahogony color, similar to AV Winter Solstice. It's actually similar to that beer in it's malty vanilla goodness, but it's richer, and more complex...and therefore better. nice blend of spices easily mask the 6% abv. good beer!"

"It pours a light copper with thick off-white, dimpled head and excellent lacing. Aroma of malts, citrus, some grassiness, and mild spices. The mouthfeel is smooth and average-bodied, a bit thin. Flavors of caramel malts, citrus, light hops, licorace and great spiciness. Excellent, love this beer company."

"Pours a clean orangish-red color with a large white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma isn't very strong. Smells of malts, hops and maybe nuts. The taste is a bit of smokey malts with a nice spiciness that isn't overpowering. My favorite from Samuel Smith so far."

"The bottle pours hazy orange with a quick burst of effervescent carbonation. Aroma is of musty yeast and mouthfeel is thin and watery with acidic carbonation. Taste is very nice with notes of sourdough bread, caramel, brown sugar and a quick hop bite at the end. I certainly like this more than most craft brewed winter ales. It goes well with a fire in the fireplace an a small piece of chocolate. "

"An excellent example of a fine winter ale. Bought this one last December and just tried it recently. It pours a clear reddish hue with a white cap, not unlike a Cream Soda. The aroma is sweet and nutty (not unlike myself). The flavour is malty with a little sweet and spicy tang. Heartwarming!"
