The Famous Taddy Porter
History
Porter was the first commercially brewed beer. It was named for the train porters who were its original servers and consumers. Samuel Smith’s Old Brewery, Yorkshire’s oldest, reintroduced authentic porter to the British beer scene in 1979 after an absence of more than 50 years.
Very dark, fairly full in body and packed with flavor. Intense, dry tangy character of roasted barley.
Oysters on the half shell, Rockefeller or Cajun style, clams, mussels, crab cocktail, lobster bisque and other shellfish, smoked mackerel pâté, veal with green peppercorns, porterhouse steak and of course chocolate. Serve at 55 degrees in nonik or tumbler.

“One of the world’s five best beers.”—Michael Jackson

"thinner than i like, but that's what the style calls for, and SS does it well. much better (no skunky beer) now that they've done away with the clear glass...not spectacular, but worth a shot. more like a brown."

"I heard good things about this beer but I just didn't like it all that much. A decent flavor with coffee, smoke, some nuttiness, and a slight bitterness. Not bad overall, but not amazing."

"Samuel smiths Taddy porter was pretty good, the dark black body had decent carbonation, and the tannish head left fair lacing. Aromas of sweet roasted malts, chocolate and coffee, falvor follows but there are hints of nuts and its a little smokey. Mouthfeel was a little on the thin side, but it was smooth and malty, easy to drink. Overall its worth a try."

"How could you go wrong with a Samuel Smith. This is a decent entry into the porters. Brownish-black body, decent carbonation and a healthy tan head on pour. The aroma is a little mild, but the flavor of roasted malt-chocolate, and a hint of nuts. "

"Pours a deep brown-black with a nice tan frothy head and some lacing. Good carbonation. Aromas of sweet roasted malts, semi-sweet chocolate, almonds and nuts, and some hops. Taste is smooth with a toffee-coffee sweet/bitter and some nuttiness with a very slight hops bitter finish."
