The first thing one notices in a Samuel AdamsŪ Winter Lager is its color: the deep brown of winter. Then comes the magical aroma which promises something special on the tongue. The warm aroma of cinnamon and ginger which blends with the roasty sweetness of the malted barley and hint of citrus from the orange peel. And after that first sip the promise is fulfilled. On the palate Samuel AdamsŪ Winter Lager is rich and full bodied, robust and warming, a wonderful way to enjoy the cold evenings that come with this season.

"Pours a chestnut colour with a foamy head that is gone quickly. Lacing is good. Smell is of malts and nutmeg.
Taste reminds me that it is the holiday season. Spices and bitterness are the two main aspects. Thin mouthfeel with good carbonation.
Drinkability is good; the spices give a warming sensation. That is welcomed on a day with cold rain and snow and a temperature near freezing."

"I am always surprised by Samuel Adams beers. For a brewer that mass produces and mass markets they have their stuff together. This beer in no exception. I was pleasantly surprised by the copper richness of the pour, the spices on the palate. This is a very nice seasonal lager."

"Color is a nice clear coppery amber with a decent head. Aroma is fairly strong, malty with a firm undertone of spice and a hint of caramel. Flavor matches the aroma, malty and spicy with caramel and nutty hints. Texture is lively and jazzy, leaving a pleasing finish."

"this beer used to fall strictly into the average beer catergory, but it's grown on me a little. while i won't go out of my way to get one, it's pleasant, slightly spiced and slighty heavier body is a welcome addition to the fridge during the colder months. to me, it's just a spiced SA Boston, but that's pretty good."

"A dark brown pour with a thick white head. Aroma of spices and malts. Body wasn't too heavy. Taste is some sweet malts with spices, mild fruit flavors, and a hint of cinnamon. Overall a pretty good beer but it could have a stronger flavor."
