Samuel AdamsŪ Summer Ale is an American wheat ale. This summer seasonal uses malted wheat as well as lemon zest and grains of paradise, a rare pepper from Africa first used as a brewing spice in the 13th Century to create a crisp and spicy flavor and body. The ale fermentation imparts a background tropical fruit note reminiscent of mangos and peaches. All of these come together to create a quenching, clean finishing beer perfect for those warm Summer days.

""grains of paradise" are a nice touch, and (gasp), so is the lemon zest to make this a nice, refreshing summer ale. and, you can taste the wheat, which isn't always the case. aroma is so so."

"Pours a dark yellow with a smallish white head that quickly dissipates without much lacing. Taste is crisp with low bitterness and a lemony aftertaste."

"Bottle:
Gold, lightly hazed ale with a smallish white rocky cap...faie retention fair lace.
Light fruity-malt-grass nose to it not over stated by any means but pleasant and clean.
Nice moderate body with ample malts fruity tones some herbal hops a light medicinal bittering as it goes to a lightly drying spicey-biscuity finish .
pleasant approachable wheat ale...good for sessioning"

"It pours a lovely, cloudy honey-golden with a nice thick head. Aroma is somewhat scanty but nice and malty, with lemony hints. Taste is smooth and malty with citrus overtones, as well as hints of hops and wheat. Laid-back and refreshing, this is a great warm-weather beer."

"Yuck! This is the worst wheat beer I have ever had. It had a strong bitterness that was not hop-associated, more of a blah taste. The colour was slightly hazy, but not wheat beer hazy. The aroma was more hoppy than wheat. I don't know.....just a bad experience."
