For the first time, Samuel Adams is celebrating the fall hops harvest with the introduction of Samuel Adams(r) Imperial Pilsner 2005 Harvest. This is the first beer to reach market using this year's Bavarian hops crop. This one-of-a-kind brew uses enormous, almost reckless, quantities of Hallertau Mittelfrueh hops selected fresh from this year's Bavarian hops harvest, making it one of the "hoppiest" beers in the world. The quality of these hops give the beer an unmatched flavor dimension and complexity and drinkability, even at these elevated BU (bitterness unit) levels.

"Rating this as i drink my second, it looks and smells like a IPA or IIPA. An almost burnt orange body with average carbonation and a yellowish tinged head that leaves plenty of good lace. Aroma has floral and some citrus notes, flavor is dominated by the hop tartness, with a dry finish. I am not normally a big fan of pilsners and this was my first Imp. pilsner, but i liked this stuff."

"I would hardly call this a beer. It's more of a nectar, really. If this is a pilsner, then all other pilsners be damned. When I first saw this beer in its bottle, it looked a little thin to me. But was I ever wrong. It pours thick syrupy orange amber with a thin foam cap. I smell HOPS! The hoppy smell gives way to a slight floral aroma as I prepare to enjoy this fine pilsner. The moutfeel is syrupy and thick and the taste is of floral hops. There is a slightly salty after taste. Changup45 was right about this being similar to Dogfish Head's. But this is a little lighter with a cleaner finish. It's a very good beer, but a little expensive IMHO."

"Pours out a dark golden color with a white head that leaves a decent amount of lacing. I found this beer to be very hoppy and enjoyable, and the finish is very crisp and dry. Definitely worth a try."

"Pours sort of a golden-amber color with a thick off-white head and some pretty good retention. This beer laced well. Very zest and tart tasting with lots of hops. Definitely some alcohol bite to this. I didn't notice much malt at all which surprised me based on the style (the few Imperial Pilsners I've had were quite malty) but didn't surprise me because I already knew this was going to be hop heavy. This was interesting and fun to try. Maybe the best Imperial Pilsner I've had... better than Rogue, a little better than Clipper City's and probably a toss up with Dogfish Head. "

"Beautiful hoppy aroma that just is begging to be enjoyed. Pours clean and golden with a hint of red, some decent head retention. Feels great in the mouth, even better down the throat! Lots of floral and citrus hops; this is a hop monster, but clean. its a straightforward clean beer taste, not enriching ingredients and intense deep tastes, but very enjoyable. i'm glad i got to taste this finally"
