JLS Release #16: Imperial Porter ~ for summer you ask? Why the hell not! This is not your average porter, this is not Mocha Porter. This is a hugh moutful of malt and hops. It has notes of bitter rich chocolate and hints of tar. A new hop variety called Summit was used to give it the perfect hop balance. This Porter is the Creme de la Creme! Unfiltered, Unfined, Uncompromised. Imperial Porter is brewed with two row pale, munich, dark crystal, chocolate and black malts; and 100% Summit hops. Original Gravity @ 18.7 degrees plato, Finishing Gravity @ 4.75 degrees plato, IBU's around 60!

"Draft at SL, courtesy Robert. The appearance was dark brown-black, resinous bitter dry chocolate/cocoa. The flavor was bitter chocolate, full pine-hop presence, bitter chocolate, somewhat acidic even, lingering roasty aspects, licorice, light coffee elements also in the aftertaste. Body was only moderate relative to its Impy Porter peers, somewhat astringently acidic mouthfeel in the finish, nothing at all syrupey or sticky or sweet! A decent brew, thanks Robert!"

"Poured a dark brown / reddish color with a medium sized, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of strong pine and citrus, some floral hops, roasty malts, with light chocolate and some smoke as well. Taste of sweet chocolate, more roasted malt, with light smoke, pine tar, light citrus, and a fair amount of alcohol in the finish."
