It took only a couple of rounds of India's finest for the 19th century British Colonists to write home, "Either send us some good beer or we're outta here." India Pale Ale is what was sent. Originally made extra hoppy to survive the voyage, it's unique flavor also survived the Colonists finicky tastes and became and instant favorite back home.

"If you find yourself in a beer wasteland and you are looking at your selection in the beer cooler and it looks like.."Bud, Corona, Mike’s Hard Lemondae, MGD, Coors Light, Bud Light, Modelo", this beer can be a Godsend. It seems to be fairly well distrubuted and much like SNPA, it will work really well in a pinch.
The beer pours out a light copper/amber body with a nice 2-finger rocky off-white cap. Aroma has some grapefruit hop bite to it, and a decent showing of malts. The aroma seemed to be going a bit cheesy, but there was still enough hop to enjoy. Pretty simple. Flavors were rather mild, with a light citrus hop profile, sweet malts for balance and the hop flavor echoed a bit on the swallow. Not a world shaker, but as I said..in a pinch it’ll do."

"i remember having a really good imperial ipa from Pyramid once, but it must have been based on a different IPA than this one...this is the budweiser of IPA's. anything but inspired. less aroma and flavor than one would expect."

"This is very disappointing for an IPA, more of a regular Pale Ale to me. Very faint grapefruit and grassy hops. Pours a cloudy golden color. Has a nice fizz in the mouth that makes the beer seem hopeful until it pours down the throat; it has a nice malt balance and some tangy grassy hop flavor, but theres no outstanding hop explosion, much less big flavor that I expect from an IPA. I guess I commend its smoothness, but I would probably not buy this again out of a 6er; on tap, possibly."

"Pyramid continually puts out tasty beers at great prices. This one beer smelled of dark malts and had an appearance of a dark frothy thick beer. Not a bad bite to a high alcohol IPA. good beer

"Thunderhead poured a medium yellow body, its mid level carbonation gave it a small white head. Mouthfeel was adequate, Aroma was very faint, a slight hop presence with no dominate floral or pine attributes. Taste was about the same as the aroma. Overall its o.k., however i wont purchase it again since there are so many other IPA's yet to try."
