A rich, full-bodied winter warmer crafted in the British tradition of holiday beers. This deep mahogany colored brew balances complex fruit flavors with a refreshingly smooth texture, making Snow Cap a highly drinkable and desirable cold weather companion. Available, mid Oct thru Jan. Silver Medal, World Beer Championships, "Strong Ale", 1998.

"This brew pours a dark amber color that is slightly transparent and produces a small offwhite head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is very pungent, and alined with the style perfectly, sour fruit and nuts. the mouthfell is a little thick for the style. Flavor is very complex, but it is missing something in the finish. Overall, I probably won't try this one again, simply for personal reasons, it is a fine ale."

"Overall this is pretty good. I could really drink this all day. Dark in color. Light head that goes away quickly. This is a great blend for Christmas. Not much bite and a good balance between ingredients."

"I was really surprised by this one, but perhaps I was soured on Pyramid after the Apricot Weizen. Pours a dark amber, mahogany color. Small head with light lacing. Smells of spices, hops and a little malt. Good taste of hoppy, spiciness. Medium mouthfeel with a bit of sweetness. I really enjoyed it. I'm on my way to get another sixer while its still on sale."

"Poured a foamy darkish, almost grey head of two-fingers thickness above a body of seriously dark amber. Cannot see daylight through this one! The aroma was of malt plus some dark fruit, might be plum? The taste was somewhat bitter, more than I'd expected, and the mouthfeel was "chewy". Finish was sweet. A decent beer for outside use for this time of year. "

"KCC 7: Saturnalia! 12 oz squatty "California" brown bottle. Lively bubbles dissipate quickly and noisily. Faint and fast-fading head from a straight pour. Very dark brown in color, and clear. Aroma is mostly malt with hints of molasses and raisins. There is a waft of alcohol in the aroma as well. Taste is treacle-y sweet and somewhat spicy (cinnamon?). Fairly flat mouthfeel. A pleasant hint of licorice is detected in the aftertaste. Overall, a nicely made seasonal ale. I like it because it doesn't promise the world in a bottle, yet it delivers a very satisfying flavor and aroma quality. "
