Silver Medal at the 2006 Canadian Beer Awards.
For our signature pale ale we use only our pale malted barley, with a small amount of malted wheat. A few degrees hoppier than the ESB, again using North American and English varieties, with emphasis on English Goldings in the finish. Hard water to emulate the great brewing centre of Burton on Trent, the birthplace of pale ale.
The term 'pale' was originally intended to distinguish beers of this type from the black London Porter. Classic English Pale Ales are not pale but rather are golden to copper coloured and display English variety hop character. The distinguishing characteristics are dryness and a defined hop taste. Propeller Pale Ale is a truly classic, English Style Pale Ale, that's crisp, hoppy, and thirst-quenching!
Our Pale Ale is also our brewmaster's personal favourite and it will be yours soon too!

"Bottled 650ml: I drank many bombers of this with fresh seafood and I must say it seems a natural companion for seafood.
Pours a brilliant deep gold with a sticky 2 finger cap that lasts and laces.
Moderate cabonation
Delicate aroma of sweet fresh biscuit dough and fruity esters ( peach/citus)
Solid malt spine, ...soft mineral mouthfeel....rounded, smooth fruity-biscuity character.
Sweetness from the ample crystal malts in the start are quickly balanced by a mix of cedar and grapefruit hopping as some pleasant peach tones fill the palate...finishes clean with a light bittering and a wonderfully biscuity after taste from the wheat. No sharp edges on this ale.
Very tastey and drinkable...a perfect session ale...the bomber bottles are as good as the draft if you get them fresh as they are both not pasturized.

"Bottle: Poured a golden color ale with huge white bubbly head with average retention. Aroma of hops is clearly identifiable. Taste is quite sweet with a good floral undertone and nice bitter finish. Body is average as well as carbonation. Better then expected I must admit and very close to an APA."

"Thanks to Robert Mayr for this big 650ml brown bottle of pale ale, straight from Nova Scotia. Pours a light golden-amber colour with a nice big tanned head. Retention is quite good for a pale ale, and lacing is great. Carbonation is minimal. The scent is fresh with malt and samples of honey. The mouthfeel is dry and smooth. Taste of hoppy bitterness with a bread finish. Excellent refreshing session brew... can't wait to taste their porter."
