Rich, full-bodied English-style bitter made from a blend of two-row malts, including pale malt, crystal malt (for body and residual sweetness) and chocolate malt (for its rich flavour and colour). A last small addition of malted wheat helps deliver its pleasing head. Hopping is done to 30 IBUs using a combination of North American Williamette and Fuggle varieties, and English Goldings. Water is softened for this brew in the manner of southern English Bitters, making it very smooth and refreshing. Bitter was originally a draught ale served very fresh under no pressure (gravity or hand pump disoensing only)at cellar temperature. Lucky for you today it's available everywhere! Our most popular brew is not really a bitter beer, it's a better Bitter!

"The saying is...when in Halifax............try a propeller. So...I tried a few. This is a reddish brown brew that looks alright. The aroma is coffee like with little hop presence for me. (Malt overpowering the hops). The hops do come through in the taste however as this is indeed is a better bitter!"

"Bottled. Deep reddish golden colour with mediumsized beigeish head. Aroma is fruity, honeyish, wooden, grassy and slightly caramelly. Flavour is mainly wooden, fruity and grassy with a quite bitter finish. "

"Classy orange and gold label with the large propeller blade in the middle. Pours a thick copper brown color, creamy tan head. Nice looking brew. Lots of hop aromas, as expected in an ESB. Have heard lots about this one, and the taste didn't disappoint. Great mix of sweet and bitter hops. Well carbonated, makes it creamy smooth. Very easy to drink. If it were available here, it would be a regular.
I am probably a bit biased, but beer always tastes better when there is a story behind acquirng it. The anticipation and waiting for it to cross the country makes it taste even better.

"Pours a dark amber colour with hardly no head and lacing. Aromas of sweet and roasted malts with some hints of caramel and apples. The taste is a good mix of chocolat malt and bitterness. Smooth and refreshing. A good examle of a Extra Special Bitter."
