"I always want to pronounce this as "F*ket" but of course I know better. Sure I do. The hoppy aroma jumped out as soon as the cap came off, and that's the best of it. A frothy white head reduced itself quickly, over top of a clear gold body. Aroma was not so bad. The taste was watery and weak, like a light beer, and seemed perfumed to boot. Aftertaste was pretty much nada. My second Thai beer, and for sure the lesser of the two. Singha is better and cheaper."

"Your typical pale swill taste with a strong skunky aroma, nothing too exciting. Clear golden colour with a large white grainy head. But the label looks like something you would experience at a Jimmy Buffet concert."

"A rather crass commercialized tourist beer here.... I've been to Phuket Island, and can't imagine the locals ordering up this silly looking beer. For example, I don't think parakeets are native to Thailand -- but hey! It looks good on a beer bottle label, so what the heck, eh? I wouldn't be half surprised if this beer came out some time after the horrible 2004 Tsunami, to make some quick bucks, but I might very well be mistaken there.
All that aside, grabbed up a single of this from my local Trader Joe's for the heck of it. Harmless enough to waste a buck-and-change on a beer such as this -- since sometimes these one-bottle obscurities from Trader Joe's yield some interesting surprises.
While I wouldn't say that this was a big hit in my book, at the same time, it's surprisingly not horrible. A very "by the numbers" Pale Lager, complete with the semi-obligatory just-starting-to-skunk estery character from UV light making it's way through the classical Euro-Green bottle.
Poured fine, but the head and carbonation left the building rather quickly. Like I mentioned, the aroma isn't anything special either. The flavor profile? Very standard for this sort of beer, regardless of origin. A bit drier than the norm, which I think helps it's drinkability quotient.
But this is rather thin and dull in the mouthfeel, and just a rather dull beer altogether.
While my expierence with Phuket Island (July `98 @ Patong Beach) was limited to a very brief four-day visit, I still think this is a "100% Pure Tourist Rip-off Beer" here.... The locals, who pound down 600mL bottles of higher-octane Singha and Leo and Kloster Bier like it's going out of style would no doubt take one look at the frilly harmless beer, and leave it for clueless Euro and American foreign tourists....

"For a pale lager, this wasn't horrible. It was drinkable with the homemade pizza I baked. An aroma of yeast, malts, grass and a little skunk but not really bad. Perhaps I got a fresh bottle? Appearance was clear and piss yellow with a nice white head (typical of a pale lager). Mouthfeel was light and evervescent. Flavors were also on the lighter side of things, with a lttle malt, a little hops and not much else. To rate with other lagers, it's not bad. But on the overall scheme of things it's not all that tasty."

"Pale island lager with a decent foamy head. Aroma was highly skunked with a light hop note lying beneath. Effervescent mouthfeel. Flavor is of musty, stale malts and wet cardboard. Finish has the sugary sweet characteristic of some type of adjunct. Exactly what you'd expect when picking this one up."
