"O.G. poured a dark black body, miniscule carbonation led to a tiny head. I didnt rate this beer very high because the aroma and flavor were rather strange. Almost like burnt black licorice, thats the closest thing to compare it with. It wasnt bad or offensive, just different. It was a little creamy and smooth, easy to drink. It was a decent brew, one i would probably try again to see if i could figure it out better."

"Gets points for that handsome coffee color with the ruby-red glow when held up to the light. Points also for the rich roasty aroma. Gets a point or two off for the thin mouthfeel, but when it warms a little, the subtle character of a good English porter really comes out. I'd have it again. "

"Not bad, although not overly impressive. If this is what the style used to be, I don’t begrudge progress. This pours a dark mohagany (sp) with virtually no head and definatly no lace. Aroma is sweet and includes prunes/apricots. Flavor follows the scent closely, but the dark fruits take center stage. I’ve gotta say it’s not overly complex in this area. Palate has a nice mineral feel to it which bumps up my score here. If it had more carbonation or fullness to it the score would have been higher. Overall, I’m not that impressed, although it’s nice to see a real Brit offering of the old style."

"Bottle. Dark ruby brown with a slim tan head. Aroma is sweet and fruity with roast malts, coffee and a touch of chocolate. Nice taste of the same elements with some tar thrown in and a dry bitterness. Medium bodied, smooth and drinkable. "
