"Aroma is very strong and of black coffee and leather notes with some licorice as well as some honey and brown sugar as well as some molasses and some bittering hops as well as some burnt malt. Appearance is pitch black even when held to the light with a medium-sized head on top that is dark brown in color and creamy and diminishes leaving light lacing on the glass. Mouthfeel is robust and very full-bodied with some very extreme complexities as well as balance with a pallette that is creamy smooth and not as heavy as expected and is sticky. Flavor is surprisingly sweet with some complex mollasses notes as well as some slight honey with an aftertaste that is of some burnt malts and coffee with some creamy and thick overtone with a finish that is smooth with no alcohol whatsoever coming through and offers notes of sweetness and bittering hops. Overall, this stuff is incredible and one of the smoothest imperial stouts I have had and is very pretentious and may be one of the best examples of style and would age amazingly; highly recommended to get if you see it and I am getting another bottle to age. "This poured a black color with a beige head. The aroma contains some alcohol, charcoal, and chocolate. The flavor is a bit on the aggressive side with an alcohol bite. I get some coffee, licorice, and dark chocolate. Overall this is too over the top to call it a great beer. Balanced it is not! "

"Bottle #55/100 - Very good beer here. Lots and lots of roasted malts in both the flavor and the aroma. There was some interesting aroma profiles I found though. Peppers, smoke, charred wood, a touch leathery. Nice nose. Appearance was jet black with a small 1-finger thick brown head. Flavor had some puckering quality to it, which made me think of astringency. Reminded me of some kind of bitter espresso thats a day or two old. Also some smokey flavor on the palate, a nice bite of piney hops...very acrid. Overall a very nice impy stout. "

"Tasted at the May Northern California Beer Tasting. This Imperial Stout pours a deep black color from a 22oz(?) bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is coffee and chocolate, with some roasty malt. Medium to full bodied Imperial Stout. The malts are coffee and chocolate. The hops are earthy. Good body. There is some pepper flavor at the backend. Hides the alcohol very well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter."
