Toasted caramel malt produces the signature ruby color of this medium-bodied ale.
Distinguished by its exceptional balance, Irish Red Ale possesses a slight sweetness that yields to a clean, dry finish.

"A medium khaki head tops a beautiful deep red mahogany. The aroma is rich deep caramel with some fresh cut wood. There is also a little bit of leather. The taste has some dry woodiness with a little bit of burning trash. There is also some weird bitter pear seed taste. A strange brew, that is drinkable, but not worth seeking out. "

"I got this out of the craft collection case, Irish red pours a decent looking reddish body, with ample carbonation but a thin head. Aroma was a little disappointing with hardly anything showing up excpet very faint hints of malts. Flavor was a little better with the caramel malts appearing, it had a nice finish with a good aftertaste. Overall it was fairly decent."

"Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: The body has a deep reddish or crimson amber color with good clarity. Its head is tall, light and foamy with a light tan, almost peachy color. The head slowly fizzles down to a very thin covering and makes just a little bit of slick patchy lacing.
Smell: The aroma has a very sweet and malty character with a hint of doughy yeast and a touch of spicy hops.
Taste/Mouth feel: There is a big malty sweetness with notes of caramel and sweet bread. There are also some buttery notes mixed in there as well. Hop flavor is light and has a light spicy, leafy and mineral-like presence. The hop flavor is picked up more in the finish with a light bitterness fading off the tongue. The texture is light and easy drinking with a medium body and average carbonation.
Notes: Overall I would say that this is a solid beer with good drinkability.

"Aroma is a bit weak, but crisp and fairly malty. Color is a reddish gold, what one expects from a beer that is called "Irish Red." Flavor is so-so, better than most Michelob beers I have had - not complex but pleasant and malty. Texture is smooth, fairly typical. OK for parties."
