Mendocino Brewing Company proudly announces the release of our Red Tail Lager. Inspired by the legendary 'Spirit of the Hawk', our product symbolizes the vision and determination to create and enjoy a full flavored lager beer.
Master Brewer Don Barkley's notes:
Lighter in body than our Red Tail Ale, Red Tail Lager is fermented at low temperatures using our traditional lager yeast. “It took 21 years to make a lager worthy of the Red Tail name. Red Tail Lager has a rich refreshing flavor with a smooth light feel and a clean and crisp sweet finish.”
Red Tail Lager is now available in 24 bottle cases and 6 pack cartons.
Date introduced: April 2005
Description: Medium body, red hued color, snow white head, lightly hopped, rich refreshing flavor, clean and crisp sweet finish.

"I did like this beer and Will try it again one day. Of red color with very little head. Had a a b it of foot smell to it, oh well, Great Mouthfeel a bit thicker than most lagers I have had. Flavor was above average for this style."

"Pours a light brown color topped with a thin head. Darker color than I was expecting. Fruity malt aroma with a malty flavor with caramel and some spices and a touch of hops mixed in. Bland, watery finish, almost non existant aftertaste leaves me wanting a bit more. Pretty boring beer but drinkable. "

"This lager is what an American lager should be like. Great presentation with amber body and light head. The aroma citrus like hops to the nose. And the balance of sweet malt with bitter/bouget hops is perfect making an easy, crisp palate. "

"I have had much experience with this brewer and have had numerous different brews and all seem pretty solid and I recently was at a packy in Fairburn, GA and saw this sixer of the lager that I had not ever seen before so I picked it up to try it. Aroma is very malty and of freshly baked bread with some slight hop aroma but sweet malt dominates. Appearance is a deep golden color, almost bronze, with a full head on top that is white in color and creamy and becomes light lacing. Mouthfeel is is clean and very crisp with good malty complexity with hop balance that peeks its head with a palate that is crisp, clean, and sharp and coats the palate well. Flavor is of malty goodness with some sweetness upfront with an aftertaste that is of musty hop and bitterness with a finish that is clean and crisp with some citrusy overtones and is very good. Overall, another solid brew here and very drinkable and tasty; also, this sample seems fresh which helps a lot."
