Roy's Private Reserve is a mild ale that is brewed to compliment the cuisines of Roy's Restaurants. The hops and malt flavors are medium and balanced. The medium copper color is created by the addition of specialty malts that also give the beer a slighty nutty flavor, making it very unique complimenting a wide array of dishes.

"I don't know who Roy is -- and really don't care, to be honest. But if his name is associated with this particular beer, who am I to talk trash about the guy, eh?
Briefly speaking, this is a pretty decent beer, with enough gumption to make it worth paying attention to -- but not so complex and disconcerting as to make it cumbersome.
Reminded me of a slightly more rugged and cruder version of Sam Adams, with perhaps a bit more complexity in the middle and the backend. As always, I would have loved this more if it were a bit more assertive with the hop profile, but the M.O. of virtually ever Hawaiian brewery I've run across so far seems to be to hold off on the hops, for the most part....
Another entirely-drinkable beer, though I seemed to get bored of this rather quickly, to be honest. Still, reasonably recommendable.
