In 1985, McMenamins became the first brewery in the U.S.A. to legally use fruit in the creation of ales. While many other breweries have followed suit, we still make this Ruby exactly as we first did: Light, crisp and refreshingly fruity. Over 55 pounds of hand-macerated, fresh, whole raspberries are used in every batch. Taste the original!
Malts: Pale Malt
Hops: Vary
Fruit: Whole Raspberries

"Very refreshing American fruit ale. Pours a pinkish color and the head sticks around..... Tastes more like grapefruit than raspberry, light fruit as a flavoring, mild wheat, dry, not so sweet.... An interesting sour tone gives the beer its character... somwhere towards pink lemonade maybe. A slick round mouthfeel holds it together... I think if i had this out of a bottle, i wouldnt like it much but its very good on tap and the least boring Mcmenimans beer. In fact if never had anything quite like it"

"Light raspberry color. Light bodied wheat ale, infused with a raspberry flavor. Fruit flavor is mild and subtle, very slightly sweet. Malts are mild and slightly hoppy. Interesting taste. Light and refreshing. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet."

"picked up this in the 22oz bomber on the way home tonight. I have never had the Ruby before so not sure at all of the correct style. The beer has a really nice look to it a slightly hazy ..almost luminescent orangy colour..odd to describe but its impressive..extremely small head which dissapears real quick leaving a slight lace down the glass. The smell of the beer is very fruity..almost raspberry..with some nice malt and only a trace of hop near the end . Its good though. Feels very nice on the tongue good carbonation and not too dry..nice. This is a most drinkable brew indeed..I could easilly quaff many pints of this little beauty on a summers day!
