Sad Family is a hoppy ale named after the brewmaster’s now defunct rock-n-roll band. The imported U.K. first gold hops were used for bittering and the domestic willamettes were used for aroma. A nice hop bitterness carries through to the finish leaving and almost nutty flavor on the palate. The crystal malt is slightly perceivable and a small amount of chocolate malt was added for color. This is a great beer for getting the fall season off to a good start. Don’t let the name fool you, after drinking this special brew, you will be in fine spirits. Enjoy!
