An American interpretation of the traditional beer style: Brown Ale. It has both a higher alcohol level and more of both hop bitterness and flavor/aroma than its overseas predecessors. The Name comes from the hop used, the English Challenger hop, which is a duel purpose hop and so was used for both the bittering addition and the two late additions. The flavor profile includes a roasty character from the brown malt that adds a slight edge to the body of the malt component. The high % of crystal malt gives the brew ample but not overwhelming sweetness that compliments the maltiness of the Munich and Vienna malts. The Challenger hop is fairly flavorful (notes of citrus) with a robust aroma rich in oily hop odors. Mr. T (Clubber Lang) adorns the Tap Market representing a ferocious Challenger PROST!
