English hops, caramel malts, and an extended boil gives this beer a complexity that increases with age. The Port of Ale.

"On tap at Lodi Beer Co. - This might just be the worst barleywine I've ever had. This really was medicinal to the extreme. In fact, it reminded me of drinking Nyquil and I think Nyquil is more complex than this. This stuff gave me the shivers when I drank it. An aroma of medicine, overly sweet with a bit of raisins. Hard to get anything past that wall of Nyquil. Color was deep amber and clear. Mouthfeel was cloyingly thick. Flavors were just too damned medicinal for me to even try to pick-up anything. Just an awful mess. "
