"The cork says 2.004, and the label best before end of 2014.
Pours brown, but shines a beautiful claret / garnet colour. The head is offwhite and leaves a lovely lace, even just swirling it in the glass.
Nose of preserved cherries, sour candies, some wood or "forest floor".
Marvelous zing of fruity sourness. Hints of old oak rooms with dusty leather chairs. Good mouthfeel, light acid at first, which fills out with malty body, and the acid lingers at the back, no bitterness. Very reminiscent of sour fruit lollies, only with some earthy complexity that makes it intriguing. There are some late notes of some ginger, and yeast.
I have had this beer cellared for two years. It is fresh, lively, and very enjoyable."

"A very solid Ale. Reminded me of some of the unibroue beers with its cork and deep almost champaign like attack. Very deep and Belgian character. Nice fizzle to the tongue. Recommended"

"Nice, wrapped Liefmans presentation, underneath lay an unmarked green bottle, caged/corked and best by 2016! Poured a soily brown in colour, a cherry red when held up to the light. Immediate head forms of small bubbles. Generous initially, this would quickly disapate. Some foaming residue left as lacing. Aroma of a brune - meets lambic - meets Flemish Sour. Pleasing, but only for a short time. Some wine like, over-ripened fruit notes - mostly cherry. Carbonation too high right now, ageing should smooth that out. No alcohol present in the flavour but you can gage it at around 8% from the mouthfeel. Carbonation far too high and distracts from the flavour. Some oak notes, but quite distant and weak. I wouldn't even say 'oak' but just rotting, forest wood. No finish, leaves the mouth quickly and no resonance. Not nearly as complex as other sours - not sweet, not sour. Not much of any flavour really. Maybe slightly bitter with a tad of must. More cherries come through as it warms, but still far from fruity or even an active part of the flavour profile. Sadly, didn't improve as it warmed. I could see this becoming a good beer, but not yet. "

"Corked and caged bottle from LCBO- This rating is for this years product. My rating for the 1988 bottle is on ratebeer.com. Pours deep chestnut topped by a foamy beige froth, with minute lacing. Strong woody aromas are complimented with a faint malt component. Then, those are backed up with a strong yeasty ester aromas. Very good. Taste is sour yeasty esters, with lots of oak and woodyness. This year, being a lot younger than past versions I have had (88, 87) has a strong spritzy malt component as well. Good level of carbonation with lingering funk. Good stuff."
