With a little creative curiosity, we used spent bourbon casks, fresh from decanting, and filled them with our very own Kentucky Ale. From barrels that once held the finest bourbons of Kentucky, we present Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, a smooth, golden elixir unlike any other. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrel. We attribute this to what the bourbon maker calls the “angel’s share”. Elegantly smooth and modestly carbonated, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale is a fine sipping ale with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted Kentucky bourbon.

"I'm not a bourbon drinker so this isn't exactly my favorite beer, but beer-drinkers who also happen to like bourbon should definitely give this one a try! I was amazed at the aroma and flavor. The bourbon had a strong presence in the nose and I couldn't help but swish it around in my mouth a little. It was surprisingly smooth with a lingering aftertaste. I would drink this beer again but it's not exactly made for a backyard barbeque or a hot summer day. Buy some and save them for a more "refined" indoor setting. If you like bourbon, I guarantee you'll rate this beer higher than I did."

"Obtained through my 1st trade, thanks again Louis. Poured a clear copper color with a thin head and little bits of lacing. The aroma is of whiskey, very upfront and aggressive. Notes of caramel and vanilla help add to a warm, inviting scent. Medium bodied with a smooth quality and a drawn out aftertaste that finishes slightly thin. Unmistakable flavor of bourbon on the rocks blended with nutty, sweet malts, vanilla and grass. Dry and warming, it drinks like a big beer and demands ample time be taken to fully enjoy this unique offering. "

"Thanks to Bluesandbarbq for trading this to me. Wow, this has a strong aroma of bourbon! Some hoppy undertones, but not enough to spoil that thick sweet caramel flavor. Smells strongly of caramel, in fact, all I can really think of while drinking this are those little cellophane-wrapped cubes I used to eat by the bag when I was younger. A lot of that sweetness comes from the bourbon aging, I'm sure. Slightly buttery, slight vanilla. Full mouthfeel, with the slightest, tiniest carbonation. Lots of lacing. Slightly sweet aftertaste. A quite delicious beer. Thanks for the treat!"

"Had this one for desert, compliments of bluesandbarbq. Identical to the regular Kentucky Ale in appearance, but with the unmistakable, enticing fruity aroma of good quality bourbon, with additional buttery, honey and malty notes. The bourbon flavor enhances the smooth texture and fine taste of the base ale, without being at all biting. Nice, long, mellow, satisfying finish. While the Kentucky Ale was pleasant enough, this ale was meant for bourbon embelishment!"

"Pours a clear amber color with a nice white head and some lacing. Good carbonation. Aromas of excellent Kentucky bourbon, slight malts and a hint of malts. If you like Kentucky bourbon, this is your ale. Taste is very mild bourbon casked ale with a oaken vanilla and a slight malt and hops presence. The bourbon is not overpowering but graceful and smooth. "
