The best known and most valued of all Poznan meads, Kasztelanski has a delicate honey and root flavor and aroma. It was awarded gold medals in international Apimondia Beekeeping Congresses in Bucharest 1968, Nagoya 1985, Beijing 1993, National Wine and Mead Contests and the 1996 edition of the Polagra Trade Fair in Poznan. Referred to as a "trójniak" (triple), Kasztelanski is 30 percent honey and 60 percent water with 12 to 14% vol. alcohol. It needs to be stored for at least one year.

"Really cool earthenware crock with a built in spout. The mead wasn’t quite as good, though. Amber, oaky aroma, dried apricot. Fairly sweet, but not as much as Apis Jadwiga."
