The Skye Brewery`s much-prasied flagship ale. Reddish-hued, slightly malty and nutty in character, smooth to the taste. A multi-award-winning ale, named after the well-known hills of the Isle of Skye.

"A transparent reddish brown pour that is reminiscent of the british bitters my father keeps telling me about. Very malty, with caramel overtones. It had a 'light' taste about it, slightly sweet, and very fulfilling."

"500 ml bottle, now available in Norway (bought at Vaaland, Bryne). ABV is 4.2%. Amber coloured beer, moderate off-white head. Aroma of malts, English malt vinegar, fruits and silage. The flavour is malty but also very fruity, hints of berries and malt vinegar, "dusty" hops in the finish. Not really brilliant."

"The first time I tried this beer............it screamed.........DRINK ME! So I did. The second time I tried this beer, I savoured it even more than the first. The beer is a clear reddish-brown with a cream coloured head. The aroma was roasted malt, dark fruits, some caramel, and a little hint of hops. The flavour was as complex as the aroma with a leading assault on the tongue of chocolate malt and ending with a distinct bitter finish."

"500ml bottle
4.2% ABV
I tried this beer on April 8, 2006 at “Smokeless Joe’s” in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a dark translucent red with a thin white head. The aroma was roasted malt and nothing else. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, and not very carbonated. The flavour was roasted malt, some sourness, and a little hoppish bitterness. Not as good as the Hebridean Gold, but certainly on par with the Black Cuillin

"Dark brownish amber colour with nice beige head, lacing. Aroma is nuts, fruity and flowery hops, with slightly roasted malts being there all the time. Flavour is nuts, roasted malts and fruits. Pleasant bitterness, as it is very smooth. Finish and aftertaste is flowery hops along with roasted malts. "
