"KSBF 08 - Dark brown pour, very surprising. The flavor is that of those chocolate malt ball candies. Rich and full in its mouthfeel. Yet again, Erie brewing does an "odd for style" beer. You can’t accuse these guys of churning out boring beers."

"Bottle from SL. Pour was dark brown, well beyond copper, porter or stout-like in appearance. Head was initially nice at 1cm in my stange, but it fizzled fairly quickly and didn't provide true alt-like lacing. The aroma was strong roasted chocolate, some underlying nuts, but the roasted dark malts just swamped this thing. The flavor was ok if you're looking for a standard porter, disappointing though, if alt is your favorite style and you're ready to kick back and enjoy a stateside brewed alt. Sticky malty mouthfeel, chocolate and molasses all over the mouth after the swallow, heavy roast, tilted more towards the malt, although hops certainly there too. Caramel supports this thing if you're looking for it. Meh, another false alt hope for a beer geek that got started on genuine Dusseldorf alts. Oh well."
