Old Legless is a raven black, creamy, full bodied ale with robust, roasty, coffee-toffee flavours lingering the palate and finish! Few beers are bigger in flavour than the very strong, raven black brews once exported by the British to the bitterly cold Tsarist Empire (Baltic region) as winter warmers. Old Legless is brewed to a gravity of 1,060 (4% Alc.) with pale, crystal and chocolate malts. Specialty grains employed include imported roasted barley. The ale yeast, warm fermentation and balancing bitterness from local Southern Brewer hops provide the foam print that results in a brew of extraordinary power and complexity. The rich, fruitiness of this ale, reminiscent of burnt currents makes it the ideal companion for deserts –especially chocolate cake. As a seasonal speciality Old Legless is brewed true to style by brewmaster Moritz Kallmeyer with the same pride, skill and dedication as was the trademark of traditional old English brewers.
