Northwest style winter seasonal bold enough to get you through the weather.
We fill the mash tun to the top with lots of Northwest premium 2-row malted barley, plenty of rich Munich malt, a full bag of sweet caramel malt, lots of crisp malted white wheat, and a touch of highly roasted black barley.
This kind of big beer requires several healthy additions of hops with real character for backbone and finish. We don’t call it Double Diamond for nothing.

"Poured a dark amber color with good pillowy head. Aroma was lots of hops and caramle. Flavor was much the same pine/citrus hops bitter finish to it. Carmel tried to balance it but didn't make it

"Bottle from 5000/LarryPitonka I think. The pour was deep amber with reddish hues, full frothy off-white to tan colored head, pillowy, solid retention. The aroma was a full Pacific NW hop profile, tons of it, some caramel malts too. The flavor was just like the aroma, full pine and citrus notes, even floral aspects, finishing with a quick hit of caramel and toffee malts, turning back then to a powerfully bitter finish, full bitterness, roasty bitterness mingled under all the hoppy bitterness, odd combination, but interesting. Mouthfeel was full bodied, dIPA like, short of alcohol-boozish for sure, though, good carbonation. On target for what they were targeting, a full powered dIPA in my book, "strong ale" categorization or not."

"I love winter style beers. And I love Dick’s beers. I’m a very happy camper right now... Best I can do to summerize this in a way most here will understand is an Arrogant Bastard wtih more bite and a less creamy palate. Pours a dark brown with minimal head and almost no lacing. It’s truly lacking here. Scent is typical for style, though very nice: Malty but more, a nice hop presence to it. Taste is suprisingly citric. I know it comes from the hops, but the hops aren’t very present, although the malt is nicely balanced. Hints of coffee and roasted flavors to this as well. Palate is nicer than what I alluded; creamy with a strong citrus bite. It could use a bit of mineral to it, which would really make this stick. Overall this is quite good and well-worth seeking out. It’s solid for the style, and as a winter offering its one of my favorites."

"Poured a dark and slightly cloudy orange. The head is light tan with some large bubbles. The aroma is rich with fresh baked bread and caramel. There is also some light apple. The taste has harsh grapefruit with bread crust and some biting iced tea in the finish. The carbonation is a little sharp. Otherwise, the mouthfeel is pretty smooth for a big brew. Nicely done version of the style."

"Dark brown color. Small white head. Aroma is malty, sweet and fruity. Medium bodied “strong-ale”. Malts are nutty and sweet. Hops are piney and grapefruity. Underlying tone of smoke, spice and peat. An easy drinking winter warmer. Hides the 8.5% alcohol very well. It’s slightly under-carbonated. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and a touch dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. "
