"Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass. This bottle was purchased at the (2008) Buffalo Central Terminal Oktoberfest and was specially labeled for the event.
Appearance: It had a dark coppery amber color with good clarity. The head was small, slightly off white in color and faded to a thin, slick ring of lace on top.
Smell: The aroma had a deep burnt caramel and toasted malt presence with a somewhat spicy and leafy hop aroma.
Taste/Mouth feel: The flavor had a deep muddled malty sweetness. There are notes of burnt caramel, dark molasses and brown sugar that mix with slightly spicy and leafy hops. Overall this gives it a dark and murky character. The finish has more of a hops bitterness popping the deep maltiness as well as some grainy alcohol notes. It has a full body with a heavy, smooth and slightly slick texture and light to average carbonation.
Notes: Its dark deep murky complexity is very interesting but seems to take away from its overall drinkability.
