Clipper City Heavy Seas Winter Storm Category 5 Ale also known as Clipper City Heavy Seas Winter Storm (Imperial IPA) also known as Clipper City Heavy Seas Winter Storm (Imperial ESB)
This ale is pure hop power but perfectly balanced with a rich malt character. Floral and aromatic, the hop character is enhanced by the technique of dry hopping, a traditional method of increasing aroma. Available from mid-October to February. Malts: Pale, Crystal, Carapils and Munich. Hops: Magnum, Fuggles, Cascade, Centennial and Chinook

"Let’s git this one out of the way, I’m pesimistic about anything that says imperial on it. I’ll rate this monster in recognition of all the beerpalians. Kinda looks like iced tea. Fairly strong hoppy lager aroma, somewhat like imperial pilsners I’ve had. Not as bad as expected on the taste buds but it certainly is quite hoppy bitter. Roll your tongue up against the roof of your mouth and get a shiver, mah fah. Never had an impy ESB, but what the Devil? Kick butte, plowing thru my taste buds. Regardless of how offensive this is, it is not as bad as many impy IPA or impy stouts. Really does have ESB character on the upper level of rudeness. Some ESB are friendly and well mannered, and this is not! heheheh. Will not buy again, way too much for this lager afficianado. On par with Berkshire Cabin Fever Ale or Laggy’s Impy red."

"Pours a dark amber with light tan head. Aroma contains some piney hops with a hint of sweet malt. Taste is similar with a bit of sweet alcohol as well. Overall, well balanced and very tasty. Good winter warmer."

"Aroma on this brew is full of sweet malt and some prunes with some raisins coming through as well with some faint fuggle hops perhaps as well as some light alcohol. Appearance is a ruby red in color when held to the light with some haziness and a full head on top that is light-tan in color and dissipates to a creamy lacing that adheres to the glass nicely. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with some sweet malty complexity with some balances of hoppy bitter with a palate that is creamy and thick and well-rounded. Flavor is clean and crisp with a big malt backbone with some sweetness and some raisins as well as prunes with an aftertaste that is pleasantly hopped and a finish that is smooth with not much alcohol coming through. Overall, a very nice and big ESB here for sure but not nearly as good as the original Fuller's; recommended. "

"Amber color Fruity and citrus hops aroma. Huge amounts of lacing. Very carbonated mouthfeel, full body, plenty of alcohol presence. The beer has plenty of malt, starting very sweet, but becomes very hoppy and spicy. This one really bites back at you."
