"Love that big bottle but the label imparts damned little information, mostly the usual health warning. It poured a frothy tan head, which produced a small amount of nice short-term lacing. The colour is just bloody dark, impervious to light. Aroma is roasted/toasted/burnt malts, chocolate, and coffee. Taste is all that the aroma promises, and that is simply delicious. Mouthfeel is typically "stouty", with a clean after. Far and away the best Oz beer I've ever had. "

"Tight, creamy, light brown head. Can't tell if there's any bubbles...they may be in there though...
Very dark black/brown. Dense, with a tiny mahogany edge, if you look hard enough.
Initially, you can smell iced coffee, with a chocolate sprinkle. But there are other notes in there...hops, molasses, wood.
It tastes very much like it smells, with some caramel in there also. There is bitterness, and roasted flavours toward the end.
I haven't drunk this in years; I have forgotten how much I liked it."

"I now understand the difference between a "metalic" aftertaste and a "mineral" aftertaste. This definately has the later of the two. A very fine stout this is. This is arguably the most plain bottle of beer I've ever seen. Just an indistinctive brown bottle with a brown label surounding a yellow logo with only the most basic information. I've no idea what's in it or where in Austrialia it's made. It's nice to see a modest beer that doesn't need anything flashy and isn't so full of itself that it claims to be the last beer you'll ever need. The beer itself says all that needs to be said. Pours black with a tan head (well duh, it's a stout). Nice lace forms down the glass. Smells of malt and molases with a floral scent. It smells like a good red wine, which is rather odd but pleasent. Nice dry taste. Roasted hops are the most noticable taste. The mineral aftertaste makes the taste remind me of... red wine. This is *very* complex. I'm almost getting an anejo tequila taste sensation. Nice and thick mouthfeel that's somewhat creamy, but not like a Guiness/foamy. I'm leaving the drinkability at 3.5 which was my first impression from the aftertaste, but that may be a bit harsh. I could easily have a few of these and the more of it I drink the more it's growing on me."

"Pours with a black body topped by a medium thick head with some lacing. It’s sweet, malty and chocolatey with a slight roasted coffee note and a touch of licorice. Full bodied and smooth."

"The beer poured very well and left a thick tan head atop a dark brown almost black beer..the head went down somewhat but still clung on to the edges. This has a great stout smell the roasted almost burnt malts..i love this, this one smelled better than Guiness. Wonderful taste IMO, its a good mix of burnt malt and good hoppiness..i tasted loads of caramel, treacle and a hint of black espresso coffee..delicious. feels really smooth on the mouth but leaving sensation all along the tongue. Very drinkable..good stout at a not too bad price will drink again!"
