Brew Masters’ Private Reserve is an exceptionally rich beer that is a symphony of character, featuring a balanced hop aroma with 8.5 percent alcohol by volume (ABV). Based on the time-honored Budweiser brewmaster holiday tradition of collecting the richest first part of the brew as it is tapped to the brew kettles to celebrate the season, this is the first time it is being made available to the public.

"bought downtown, big ole bottle all to myself ...(why did i do this) .... pours a dark brown maroon colour .. a good maltster head on the medium pour .. but the lacing i say needs more work ... there are some nice simple flavours, caramel and maple, things of that sort ... "attire optional" ... shows the alcohol near the end, but it is a pretty good offering from the bud guys... 7-14-08 ..$52 billion offer from inbev for bud today..."

"Had this while visiting relatives in MO during the Christmas season. Overall a great beer from a company that doesn't really make good beers. Very good, definently a "Have again"!"

When I first saw this bottle I thought it was just regular Budweiser or Michelob repackaged. I got it free from my retailer for Christmas, I’m one of his pretty loyal customers so I don’t have any idea what this stuff cost. It’s a big flip top 32 oz bottle with a ‘born on’ date of Sept 25, 2007. When I first pop the lid it has a mild aroma of freshly baked Italian bread. In a sniffer it clears to a more ‘alky like’ strong ale sweet candy smell reminiscent of a sweet helles. The look of this beer is reddish orange and innocently clear nothing like the pale yellow brew pictured on this website. Has a circumjacense of foam around the inside edge of the glass for a head. Otherwise, the head is just plain old tea froth on top. When you pour it and swish it around in the glass, it seems to have a little higher viscosity than most beers. The taste of this is certainly very strong and alcoholic but it does seem to hide its 8.5%b rather well. I’ve tasted other brews that are much less alky % yet much stronger on the palate. Has some adolescent cherry barrel wood flavor in there at times. Provides a lingering back throat bitter malt without alky burn. This brew is not warming at all. Except for the alky maltiness, it comes across intrinsically insipid. Here this beer is listed as a malt liquor, but I must disagree. On the label it claims to be a doppelbock and it is certainly a doppelbock. Most of the taste attributes of this brew make it so. It has many more manners than any malt liquor I have ever tasted, next to perhaps, Rogues Daddy’s Little Helper. The carbonation of this brew is laid back. Fuzziness is nearly next to nothing. Sibilation is barely there. All one can detect is a mild tingly sensation if you really look for it. Overall you can tell a lot of thought has been put into the making of this beer. Perhaps I am not good enough for this and cannot really enjoy it’s personality, but I must say it has the attributes of many 3.5 or higher rated craft and import beers I’ve seen on this site. Finish is just like any high quality alky brew, not like cheap malt liquor.

"2006 bottle, wasn't expecting to be blown away by this beer and got pretty much what I thought I would actually a little bit more. Brewmasters Private Reserve poured with a medium golden body topped off by a fluffy medium sided pure white head that actually had pretty good retension, leaving some light patchy lace down the sides of the glass. The aroma was mild with some light honey, sweet malts, and faint hoppyness. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and pretty drinkable given the fact that it is a lager over 8% alcohol. The flavor is actually pretty good, sweet and with no real adjunct filler coming throgh, slightly warming at the 8.5%. All in all it's worth giving a shot but not really for the major pricetag."

"To say that this is the best of the worst would be fairly fitting for this beer. While having partaken in quite a few AB products over the years, this is probably the best thing they've put forth. An aroma of apples, some over sweetness like honey along with some grainyness. Appearance was a deep gold color with a foamy head. Mouthfeel was medium bodied but watery. The flavor really just drops out mid palate leaving you with nothing. Flavor was overly sweet, astringent and corn. It had their regular AB taste but somehow more refined but sweeter. It did hide the alcohol really well. Not bad, but forgettable (which can be worse than bad)."
