"I was not impressed with this pale ale. The funky, syrupy and sweet flavor put me off so much so that I did not want to finish drinking it. Definitely not a pale ale."

"Like other Big Hole beers, this one can be recognized by its big body, flavors, and aromas. Unfortunately, this is not a great example of pale ale. Too sweet and syrupy (like all their beers) just doesn't work with this style. Don't let this mistake deter you from trying Big Hole's other excellent products."

"Picked up a single bottle of this from the local Trader Joe's -- a place that doesn't care if you break up six-packs. And while I'm always on the look-out for new and interesting beers, I'm afriad to report that this sample only met 50% of that criteria. New? Yes. Interesting? Uh, not really, to be honest.
Appearence is decent enough, but that's where things kinda end, IMO. A rather nuetral- to sub-par aroma, with very little to distinguih it from hundreds of other so-so Pale Ales.
The dry, acidic, and yet rather thin mouthfeel highlights the rather bare-bones flavor profile. Hints of dried citrus (Cascade or maybe Goldings), with a purely secondary malt backbone. Bitter, yes. But in such a way as to not really give it a lot of character, but only to try to give it some sort of life -- with uneven rsults.
Improves a touch while it warms up, with hints of taosted malt showing up in the 9th Inning, but not enough to get around the intensely drying effect in the mouth. Almost as if the more I drink this, the more thirsty I get.
I've had worse -- and believe me, if this beer's Cascade profile was any stronger, it'd be down the drain -- but I've had so many better American Pale Ales than this. An anonymous Pale Ale from a rather unknown brewery in Montana, where it might be the best thing since sliced Buffallo. But for me, a rather forgettable beer, at best.

"Medium gold color. Small head. Aroma is sweet and a little malty. A medium bodied pale ale. Milder taste. Malts are sweet. Hops are slightly spicy. Smooth tasting. Not very complex, but very drinkable. Not as hoppy as most American Pale Ales. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter."

"Bottle: Poured a clear amber color ale with a huge foamy head with better then average retention. Aroma is quite bitter with some nice floral malt also noticeable. Taste is very refreshing with a nice bitter kick at the end. Closer to an American Pale Ale in my mind then an English type Ale but very enjoyable nonetheless."
